Module access permissions

Permissions control who can see and edit each section of Sageon Business.

Where to set them

Settings → Permissions. Admin only.

Two layers

  1. Module access table — for each section, set:
    • Minimum role for view
    • Minimum role for edit
  2. Custom roles — define up to 5 named custom roles (see Custom roles)

How it works

Each role has a numeric level:

A user can View a section if their role level ≥ View minimum. Same for Edit.

Example

Set Portfolios → View = Member, Edit = Manager:

  • Owners, Admins, Managers, Members all see Portfolios
  • Only Owners, Admins and Managers can create/edit
  • Viewers and custom-role users see nothing

Hardcoded floors

Some sensitive actions can't be loosened via this UI:

  • Billing — Owner only
  • Salary view — Admin minimum
  • Hard deletes — Admin minimum
  • This Permissions page itself — Admin minimum

These are safety guardrails.

Tips

  • Lock down before opening up. Start tight, loosen as you confirm specific needs.
  • Owner is never locked out. No combination of settings can prevent Owner access.
