Project resources & bookings

The Resources tab is where you allocate people to a project, plan their bookings, and surface conflicts with other projects.

Adding people to a project

Two patterns:

A — From HR: people already in your Tribe (HR) module can be booked onto projects without needing to invite them as users.

B — From Sageon users: invited Sageon users can be added as project members with RACI roles.

From the project → Resources → + Add resource:

  • Pick a person
  • Set their role on the project (PM, Tech Lead, Developer, BA, etc.)
  • Set % allocation (0-100% of their time)
  • Set start and end dates of the booking

Conflict detection

If a person is booked >100% across multiple projects in a given week, Sageon flags it as a resource conflict. You'll see it on:

  • The Resources tab (red warning)
  • The portfolio-level resource view
  • The person's HR profile

Time vs. bookings

A booking is the planned commitment. Time entry in Tally is the actual logged time. Sageon Business compares the two to compute utilisation.

Utilisation reporting

Per-person utilisation = logged hours / available hours. The HR Analytics page surfaces this org-wide.

Tips

  • Don't book everyone at 100%. Allow 20% for meetings, admin, holiday.
  • Re-plan when slips happen. A 2-month slip on Project A means resources are tied up for 2 more months — re-book accordingly.
  • Match HR records to projects. A booking against a person who's left the company is dead data.
