Onboarding workflows
Sageon Business gives you template-driven onboarding checklists — standardise the new-starter experience without manually creating tasks every time.
Onboarding templates
A template is a reusable list of onboarding tasks. Examples:
- "Standard new starter" — IT setup, payroll, induction sessions, first-week 1:1s
- "Engineering" — adds repo access, dev environment, code-review pairing
- "Sales" — adds CRM training, pipeline shadowing, first-prospect call
Create templates via Tribe → Settings → Onboarding templates.
Each task captures:
- Title — "Set up email and Slack"
- Description — what done looks like
- Owner role — Hiring manager / HR / IT / Buddy / New starter
- Due offset days — when relative to start date (e.g. -3 = 3 days before)
- Sort order
Start an onboarding journey
When a new starter joins:
- Tribe → Onboarding → + Start onboarding
- Pick the employee and template
- Sageon Business creates per-employee task instances with calculated due dates
Tracking progress
The Onboarding tab shows live progress per new starter — % complete, overdue tasks, who's responsible. Owners get notified of their tasks.
Auto-completion
Some tasks auto-complete when the corresponding action happens elsewhere:
- "Add to org chart" → ticks when line manager is set
- "Issue first contract" → ticks when document uploaded
- "Add to payroll" → ticks when salary set on profile
Tips
- Start small. A 30-task template that gets ignored is worse than a 10-task one that gets used.
- Owner = person, not team. "HR" doesn't get reminders — Sarah does.
- Review templates quarterly. Things you used to do manually might now be auto-completable.
