Logging time
The time-entry screen is where everyone logs how they spent their day or week.
Daily view
Tally → My time → Day shows:
- Today's date
- A list of projects you're booked on (or tasks assigned to you)
- A row per project/task with hours field
Log hours, click Save. Done.
Weekly view
Tally → My time → Week shows a grid: rows = projects/tasks, columns = M-F (or full 7 if your settings include weekends).
Useful for filling in retrospectively or seeing the week shape.
What to log time against
Time entries need:
- Project (required)
- Task (optional — for tracking detail)
- Category — Billable / Non-billable / Internal
- Notes (optional)
Auto-fill from bookings
If you're booked on a project for 50% this week, the time entry pre-fills with 50% allocation. Override as needed.
Submitting for approval
End of week → Submit week. Goes to your line manager for approval. Approved time is locked from edits.
Categorising correctly
- Billable — work you'll invoice the customer for
- Non-billable project work — internal projects, R&D, training
- Admin / internal — meetings, email, "company stuff"
- Leave (auto-populated from leave bookings)
Tips
- Log every day, takes 60 seconds.
- Don't round. 30 minutes is 0.5h, not 1h.
- Notes are searchable. "Drafted Q3 board pack" beats blank.
