Tribe (HR) overview
Tribe is the people side of Sageon Business — everything HR, plus deeper integration with your projects than a standalone HRIS can offer.
What's in Tribe
- People — employee records
- Org chart — visual reporting structure
- Lifecycle — Onboarding, Leave, Compliance
- Talent — Performance, Development, Engagement
- Reward & Learning — Compensation, Training
- Insights — Analytics
- Settings — departments, positions, leave types, benefits, salary bands, appraisal cycles
Why HR + projects together
Linking HR to projects means:
- Skills matrix drives project resource decisions
- Leave affects project resource planning automatically
- Compensation is visible to project managers for cost forecasting (with proper permissions)
- Performance objectives can tie to project KPIs
It removes the gap between "who could do this work?" (HR data) and "who's on this project?" (project data).
Setting up HR for the first time
Before adding people, set up:
- Departments — Tribe → Settings → Departments
- Positions (job titles) — Tribe → Settings → Positions
- Leave types — Tribe → Settings → Leave types
- Salary bands (optional) — Tribe → Settings → Salary bands
Then add your first people via People → + Add employee.
Who can see HR
By default Tribe is visible to Member and above, with HR-specific actions (salary, performance) restricted to Admin. Configure via Settings → Permissions.
Tips
- Sync HR records with project members. If you're using Tribe at all, link projects to HR people rather than re-typing names.
- Don't try to fill everything in week 1. Department/Position/Leave types first, then add people, then layer in performance/comp over time.
