Gantt charts
The Gantt view is for date-driven planning — when a delivery has hard deadlines, dependencies and a critical path.
Open the Gantt
From any project → Plan → Gantt.
Tasks appear as horizontal bars on a timeline. Drag a bar to change dates; drag its edges to resize duration.
Building dependencies
Click the right-edge of a task → drag to the left-edge of another. This creates a finish-to-start dependency. The successor's start date automatically follows the predecessor's end.
Dependency types supported:
- Finish-to-start (most common)
- Start-to-start
- Finish-to-finish
Baselines
Click Save baseline to snapshot the current dates. As real dates slip, Sageon Business compares actual vs baseline to compute slip and report it in the Overview KPIs.
Reset a baseline by re-saving — useful after a major re-plan or change request.
Critical path
Sageon Business highlights the critical path in a darker shade. These are the tasks that, if they slip, push the project end date.
Milestones on the Gantt
Milestones appear as diamond markers on the timeline. They're visible only at relevant zoom levels.
Zoom levels
Day / Week / Month / Quarter tabs at the top. Zoom out for stakeholder reports, zoom in for daily standups.
Tips
- Don't Gantt-everything. Tasks under 1 day are noise on a Gantt — keep them in the Kanban board.
- Baseline once per quarter, not weekly. A baseline that moves every week is meaningless.
- Show the critical path in board reports. It's the answer to "what could derail this project?"
