Leave management
Leave covers everything from annual holiday to sick leave to parental leave. Sageon Business gives you a request workflow, balance tracking and team-calendar view.
Set up leave types first
Before requesting leave, configure types via Tribe → Settings → Leave types. For each:
- Name — "Annual leave", "Sick leave", "Parental leave"
- Days per year — default entitlement
- Colour — for the calendar view
- Requires approval — yes/no
Request leave
Employee → Tribe → Leave → + Request leave:
- Type — pick from configured types
- Start date + end date (or partial days)
- Notes — context for the approver
Request goes to the line manager (from org chart). They approve / reject / request more info.
Balances
Each employee has a balance per leave type. Sageon Business calculates:
- Allowed — annual entitlement
- Used — taken in the current year
- Pending — requested but not approved
- Remaining — what's left to take
Balances reset on the leave year boundary you configure.
Team calendar
Tribe → Leave → Calendar shows everyone's approved leave colour-coded by type. Useful for spotting team gaps before approving.
Conflicts
When an employee requests leave that creates a resource conflict on a project (>50% of project team off in the same week), Sageon flags it on the approval screen.
Tips
- Pre-load public holidays. Add them as a non-deductible "Public holiday" leave type for accurate working-day calculations.
- Set sensible auto-approvals. Most orgs auto-approve up to 5 days; require approval beyond that.
- Use the calendar before booking. Approvers should glance at the team calendar to catch conflicts you wouldn't see in isolation.
