Resource bookings
Bookings are the plan: who will work on what project, at what allocation, for what dates. Time entries are the reality. Sageon Business tracks both and compares them.
Create a booking
Two paths:
A — From the project: project → Resources → + Add resource. Pick a person, set role, dates, allocation %.
B — From the resource view: Tally → Resources → person → + Add booking.
Booking captures:
- Person
- Project
- Role on project
- Allocation % (0-100%)
- Start date + end date
Conflict detection
If a person's bookings exceed 100% in any week, Sageon flags it as a conflict — visible:
- On the Resource view (red highlight)
- On the project's Resource page
- On the person's HR profile
Capacity vs booked
Sageon Business calculates each person's capacity (FTE × working days × hours/day) and compares to booked %. Over-bookings get flagged in advance, before they slip.
Reporting
- Utilisation % — booked time / capacity
- Bench % — unbooked capacity
- Conflict count — over-bookings in next 4 weeks
Tips
- Don't over-book. Allow 20% bench / admin time. 100% booked teams burn out.
- Re-book when projects slip. Slips don't remove the booking — they extend it. Free up the next bookings as you go.
- Watch for "key person" risk. If one person is booked across 5 projects, that's a SPOF.
